A Little Food For Thought In Regards To What’s Going On In Our World Today

When I see the wrongs and atrocities that are so easily dished out among people today, makes me question myself, my humanity and the earth I live on.

To clarify; I'm in awe of people who are genuine and make that extra effort to make the world a better place. Whoever you are. People who do good usually aren't the ones who are gushed about the most and so I want to show my deepest gratitude to everyone who's true to their hearts and souls.
I first think back to my life, my surroundings and my experiences. I am forced to think of every single mistreatment I have ever witnessed that has pertained to either myself or to the people around me and the justices that have taken place thereafter. And I have to admit that the former is in abundance and the latter, a scarcity.

Basically what I’m saying is how many times have you or people you have witnessed been wronged in some form or manner and what’s been done about it or to put it bluntly, what have We done about it.

I can tell you now, the amount of times I have been wronged and have witnessed wrongs done upon others…are countless. And what have I done about it? Not much I’m ashamed to admit.
stand and watch injustices without raising a finger of objection

Why?!

When it came down to someone mistreating me in absolutely any form or manner, I’d stand up for myself and call them out on it. That’s what happened most of the time. Though nowadays I’ll admit that I’m so fed up of finding myself in unnecessary situations where someone doesn't treat me correctly and I have to call them out on it, that I've started letting a lot slip. I’m so tired of it that sometimes it feels easier to just leave them be. What good would it do; I’d think to myself?!
Though rightfully that isn't t he right way to think. I never know who my words may have a positive impact on. So on reflection, I should mend that.

Now, when it came down to people around me being mistreated, as long as they weren't family or close friends…I wouldn't interfere.

Why is that I ask myself?!

Because I was always scared of so called ‘repercussions’ that might occur. So I remain a coward. I was scared that my boss might fire me if I called her out on her unacceptable behavior towards my co-worker when she screamed, shamed and fired her out of the blue and out in the open in front of everyone, without a care in the world to who might hear her or the life she’d just changed.

So I kept my mouth shut and watched my co-workers be mistreated in silence, as I feared for my own position. Whilst feeling guilty and utterly disgusted with what I was seeing and even more so at my inaction of doing anything about it.

Maybe that’s why I got what was coming to me a few months later at another job I’d just started. Now I don’t want to go into the details too much as I want this to be about people in every part of the globe who genuinely need help in the world and not about me.

And so all I’ll say is that it is so terribly wrong of me not to speak/act up for anyone who needs it that I ended up experiencing what it was like being mistreated and no one coming to my aid. I was actually in such denial about it, hoping to remain optimistic until my friend told me just how wrong I was being treated compared to other co workers.

My eyes were forced open…and it carried on like that until they 'let me go' through no fault of mine. I’d have a hard time speaking about what happened and so I’ll leave that unsaid. Truth is words wouldn't do the experience, justice.

They’d even hired my replacement before I was even 'let go' and she was already there and I’d no idea I was even being let go until I heard co workers whispering about the new employee who’d be working in my position, as my head was buried in my work trying to get it done by the deadline. When they let me go they even admitted it was of no fault of mine, despite everything I’d gone through there, it was what the ‘majority preferred’. And that was it. So much for that eh?!

Though nothing I have ever experienced can come close to other injustices that are going on around the world now.
  • People finding no safety, comfort and trust in their own homes among their family members.
  • People simply disappearing for speaking the truth or ‘not following the norm and refusing to be ‘programmed’ yes I said it….the terminology that you’d use for a computer is simply attributed to humans and simply thrown around in sentences like there’s nothing to it (check out this interview about Charles Manson if you don’t believe me).
  • 200 Children going missing in Africa without a trace.
people shouting freedom as they run from a small cage to a bigger one then jump with joy
people shouting freedom as they run from a small cage to a bigger one then jump with joy
  • People starving and dying when we waste so much every day and there's more than enough printed pieces of paper, 'known as money', to go around.
  • People from every race all around the globe, suffering in different situations.
  • Where have the homeless people gone?
  • Why have they disappeared from the city centres and it’s around the world not just a few countries?
  • Why was a lovely American couple who had started cooking and feeding the poor at a park in America, fined $1000 – $2000 and banned from the park for good for doing so?
  • Why has it become something of a norm to see a dead body on the streets in parts of Jamaica as the gun situation in some parts have gotten way out of hand with even some youngsters having access to them?
  • Why are some people given sentences for drug possession and others praised and made popular for it?
  • Why does England give free medical and yet many people in America don't get that privilege?
  • Why is a dying person in the Middle-East turned away from hospitals because they don't have 'insurance' or the right amount of 'paper'?
  • Why are both young (and in some cases, old) males and females being abused and taken advantage of whatever their situation may be?
  • Why is a rich baby/person made out to be better than a poor one and a skinny one made out to be more beautiful, intelligent and accepted than someone bigger.
  • People being killed, arrested, jailed for years due to no fault of theirs.
  • Put on a uniform, wave a badge and papers with the face of the president/king/queen on it and that makes them God and immune to what ‘the masses’ can be accused of.
  • Many things that we’re exposed to that make us focus more on our primal desires and materialistic rubbish instead of striving to be better more sufficient and loving versions of ourselves.
Now this may not be everyone. It may not even be the majority. It’s still way too many to ignore.

We have to be vigilant about the way we allow ourselves and the people around us, to be treated. It needs to start at home. Then school. Then work and in all our daily interactions with others. Only then do we get to start having an impact on the people around us and help prevent the worldwide depravities that we've come to witness.

If we need electricity, what do we do? Does it appear in mid air or do we pay a bill and the company generates our electricity? The latter right.

If we need water, do we go to a well to fetch it or do we pay another bill and then the water company pumps water into our houses? Also for many of us, the latter correct?!

If we need food do we grow it in our gardens/farms or do we go to a market to buy it, paying yet another daily bill? Once again, for a lot of us, the latter am I right?!

When we need anything it is provided for us as long as we’re doing the acceptable labour to have a claim to it.

What if all of that were to go? What would we do?

I’ll tell you what we’d do. We’d bond together and do what’s necessary to survive as we’ve always done since the start of mankind.

Now having gotten used to living under a certain regime and way of life, we’re perfectly trained to ‘follow the system and ‘rules’ no questions asked.

The reason why earlier I’d said that everything has to start at home, is because sometimes it’s there where ‘wrongs/mistreatments/abuses and a whole number of unspeakable atrocities begin for some people. Imagine if we start sticking up for ourself and others then…we would automatically know to stick up for strangers around us, too.
taking back power from the minority and giving it back to the majority
taking back power from the minority and giving it back to the majority

  1. Firstly we need to take BACK our humanity and love for each other that has so efficiently been psyched away from us.
  2. Secondly we need to WAKE UP and STOP ‘politely asking’ the very people committing the atrocities in the word to ‘grow a heart’ and STOP the wrongs they’re doing. There is no logic in that.
  3. Thirdly, people who grab their phones and videos to record atrocities done in the world today aren't truly helping.
Why?!

Because the normal human response to a terrible situation should be to HELP. Not record some one else's pain with technology. Even if the person is utterly helpless, the least they could do is lend a hand. A hug. A wet cloth on the person’s feverish forehead. Even if they're dead, then to bury them or help the grieving family in any way possible even if you use only your tongue to offer words of comfort. A number of things.

For anyone who says, no but it’s to make people aware of what’s going on.. it isn't an excuse and it doesn't change the situation nor help it when we all sit watching, exchanging pictures and videos without actually ‘doing something’ about it. What’s worst, if anything it makes us subjective to what’s going on instead of seeing the big picture. Which is you must be aware of what you also Can’t see. If anything that’s what’s most important. Because that’s where lies the true evil that needs to be uprooted. Don’t be blind through ‘seeing’ eyes. Don’t believe everything you hear/read in the media. There is nothing you’re exposed to, without a hidden agenda behind it.

Period.

Now, if someone’s ill with an unknown virus or something, instead of helping them, we ‘quarantine’ them with an ‘every man for himself’ attitude. What happened to helping each other even if we hurt in the process?

We’ve been fed a fake sense of security that we must abide by or else everything will crumble to pieces. Not realising that that’s exactly what’s happening right now because of that mind set.
Now we have a world of people sharing grotesqueries and chatting, whining, acting out and fussing about it instead of actually DOING something about it.

This post isn't to bash anyone sharing and caring and trying to alert people to what’s going on in the world, not at all, it’s to also open your eyes to what’s important. Which is doing something about it and that goes for me, too.

I feel scared just writing this. I’m scared to stick up for people because of the fear that my ‘way of life’ may be snatched away from me at any second so I abide with the norm. I despise it. It’s a silent killer. I’m fed up of living this way. Some people live in hell while I get to live safely and comfortably. It’s sickening. I want to do something about it. I always tell myself that we’d be invincible if we bond as a race and break this form of complacency and adaptation to seeing yet doing nothing about the unacceptable monstrosities that happen all around us.

History always repeats itself simply because we never truly learn from it.

If a number of powerful people can get almost the whole world to think a certain way and believe certain things, then no one will question them when they do anything unacceptable.

So if billions of people have been prepped and prepared to turn their heads to wrongs happening in the world, homes and work places, when major wrongs are committed, the million or two who fight back by fussing and holding slogans don’t pose a real threat to them nor will it hinder them in any way and they know it.

What is feared is if billions of people screw their heads on right and really open their eyes realising that it isn't the governments they’re begging to make a difference (who are the ones backing the people committing the atrocities, no less) who will actually make a difference, but THEM by actually DOING something about it.

That is why a single individual with an open mind and uncovered eyes poses more of a threat to them than millions of people who refuse to truly open their eyes. And that is why they are disposed of quicker than you can say Jack Robinson. And the people who speak the truth are fully aware that it comes at the cost of their lives.

Aaron Russo, JFK, Bob Marley, Malcolm X, Michael Jackson, and the countless number of journalists who are deemed ‘expendable’ as well as any individual brave enough to speak and act on the truth no matter the cost.

People like Russell Brand (Katy Perrys' Ex husband) who has started seeing and speaking the truth.
That’s just mentioning a handful of people without coming close to just how many. Since when has a life been the property of powerful people that they can do with as they wish to, with no one to answer to? If we answer to them, who holds them accountable?

The thing is that in the end, they Do have to answer for every single act their hands and tongues put forth on earth. As do all of us.

If the media keeps your eyes focused on one place it, eradicates the probability of you looking where it matters. If you’re watching a show, you’re too preoccupied with the entertainment to know, care or worry about what’s going on backstage. Out of Sight, Out of Mind.

I hear many crying about war. Until I hear those same voices crying for every single soul on this earth who is being mistreated, in whichever corner of the globe they may be, than I have a hard time acting self righteous without actually making a difference of any sort .
That’s how wars come into effect. By teaching us to ignore the small so that by the time the big injustices happen, a few may start feeling bad about it. That’s all. No biggie right?! Wrong. It is a problem.

'I want to admit something to you. I used to believe that a kind of 'people' were 'evil'. And ironically I once mentioned to a friend that 'they' were evil and she blatantly told me that I was wrong. And I looked at her with huge 'I can't believe you just said that and believe that ' eyes. I absolutely refused to believe it and so I just figured that we'd 'agree to disagree' and left it at that.

Until later on when I started learning more about 'life and people' I realised that what I so called 'believed' was utter nonsense. Actually, I can hardly believe I used to believe that! How is it possible when it made NO SENSE! I mean how could I think a type of 'people' who eat, drink, pee, and live like I do could be 'evil'?! Since then I had to realise how 'brainwashed' I was and had to completely 'reset' my mind in other words. An individual/individuals doesn't/don't represent a 'race/people'.
If there are billions of people on earth, and cameras catch a few thousand...that is hardly a fraction of the majority. So to base anything I believe on that literally makes no sense. You never know until you 'experience'. That's why someone who has conditioned them-self and refuses to actually 'listen' to anything that goes against that belief, will forever 'remain that way'. Unless they choose to change it. Like me and my silly beliefs about a whole race of people. I feel really bad about it. How I could have allowed myself to be brainwashed and think something so 'illogical'. Shame on me. I hope that doesn't happen to me ever again.

My mind and heart needs to remain 'open' based on 'life' and not only what I 'see'.
The scale of just how terrible some things are and exactly what's going on behind closed curtains, is unfathomable to the normal individuals’ mind. That’s why it’s imperative that every single human being realises that they aren't normal/ordinary but exquisitely extraordinary.

Actions speak louder than words.

The days of words and sitting ‘tight’ are gone.

The time has come to ‘Act’.
Sometimes I wake up and remember the kind of world I live in today and wish I hadn't awoken. Then I usually have to remind myself how much good still exists in the world, too. The 'good' is breathtaking, makes me want to cry of happiness and is refreshing to come across.

Everyone has a different opinion and understanding of what goes on and how they handle it. I’m not yet offering a solution to our problems. I am offering you a step closer to that solution. Something to think about. To open your eyes about. It’s when that’s done that something fascinating will eventually happen.

We all have a daily raging war that we fight within ourselves despite where we come from or what our beliefs are. This isn't about governments, people in power, people of various religions or backgrounds but about 'anyone' who takes pleasure in others pain, whoever/wherever they may be and what's 'done about it'.

Whether you agree or not, at least you read my words and it’s up to you to come to your own conclusion about them. This is my general analysis. I've been wanting to write a post like this for a long time now, fear kept getting the best of me.

Even while writing this I continued stopping, hesitating and wondering whether I should really carry on with it or not. And these are only words. So imagine actions. Yes, I too need to find my courage.

It’s one thing to talk the talk, can we walk the walk?

Time will tell.

Update: 12/08/14: I've gone back to this post, tweaking things here and there because it's important that I say what I need to correctly and not just in the 'moment'. I'm human and take responsibility for anything that may be said 'out of context'. What I have mentioned above, only mentions a few, and in no way paints a whole picture of the countries or its people. It's to give voice to the few wrongs that does go down in the world that we may remain silent to.

For this post I'll be closing comments on it, simply because politics is such a diverse subject with each entitled to their own opinion. I didn't write this for me to debate it, I wrote it to be genuinely thought about or considered. Share if you find truth in my words.

Jay's Tidbit: People are different and have different opinions and ways of doing things. I have found that though I may not agree with every single thing on what I enjoy about the content my favourite writers write, I respect their opinions on it whatever they may be. Live and Let Live. I have learnt more than I can say from listening to others whether I agree on everything they say or not. More then often there's a lot of wisdom behind a lot of what is said. Even from the most unlikely sources.
